한국교회 복음주의권 분열 탓.. "한기총과 합의 결정했다"
세계복음주의연맹(World Evangelical Alliance 이하 WEA)이 오는 10월 우리나라에서 열릴 예정이던 ‘WEA총회’ 개최를 연기한다고 밝혔다. 11일(현지시간) 보도 자료를 통해서다.
WEA의 이러한 총회연기 결정에, 그동안 함께 총회 준비를 해온 한기총도 동의한 것으로 알려졌다.WEA 보도자료에서 “WEA 국제이사회(International Council)는 오는 10월 한국에서 열리 예정이던 총회를 연기키로 했다”며 “이 같은 결정은 최근 복음주의권(아마도 우리나라 복음주의권) 내부의 분열과 총회 개최 보류에 대한 요청 때문”이라고 밝혔다.
WEA는 “4년 전 국제이사회가 2014년 한국에서의 총회 개최를 결의할 때는 WEA총회가 세계교회와 한국 복음주의 교회의 하나 됨에 기여할 것으로 예상했고 그래서 한기총과 이를 위해 준비해 왔다”고 설명했다.그렇지만 “국제이사회는 올해 총회가 한국에서 제대로 개최되기에는 어려울 것으로 판단했다”며 “한기총과 총회를 연기하자는 데 상호 동의했다“고 덧붙였다. (다음은 'WEA와 한기총의 합의문' 및 'WEA 보도자료' 원문이다.)
| WEA 차기총회 연기결정 발표 WEA국제이사회는 대한민국 서울에서 금년 10월 개최 예정이었던 WEA총회가 연기되었음을 알려드리게 된 점을 안타깝게 생각합니다. 상기 결정은 금년 한국에서 WEA 총회를 개최함에 있어 최근 발생한 복음주의 공동체 간 내부분열과 이로 인한 어려움에 기인 합니다. 4년 전 WEA국제이사회는 한국을 총회 개최지로 선정하고, 총회를 통 해 한국복음주의 교회들 간의 연합과 세계교회의 일치를 증진시킬 수 있기를 희망했습니다. 저희는 당시한국복음주의교회의 대다수를 주도하고 있던 한국기독교총연합회와 함께 총회 기획을 시작하였습니다. 또 WEA는 프로그램 개발 및 운영팀을 출범하였고, 이번 총회가 전 세계 복음연맹의 발전과 교회의 연합을 위한 귀중한 기회가 되기를 소망 했습니다. 하지만 국제이사회는 금년 한국에서 예정된 총회를 치루는 것은 어려워 보인다고 결론지었으며, 한국기독교총연합회와도 연기결정에 대해 상호 합의하였습니다. WEA총회(매 6년 마다 개최)의 역할은 성령님께서 교회에 주시는 말씀을 경청하고, 129개 회원국의 공동사업과 국가 별 리더십의 트레이닝을 위한 것 입니다. 더불어, 총회는 상임위원회와 글로벌파트너가 동역할 수 있는 방법을 강구하고, 구체적이며 창조적인 이니셔티브의 개발을 논의하기 위해 모이는 자리 입니다. 이번 연기결정은 WEA회원 및 위원회 등이 총회에 대한 관련계획의 진행을 중지하는 것을 의미하기도 합니다. 총회에서 진행될 예정이 었던 이니셔티브는 지역 및 국가별 회의, WEA위원회 회의 등을 통해 지속될 것이며, 향후 발표 할 총회 장소 및 일정에 대비할 것 입니다. WEA국제이사회는 차기총회 계획을 위해 지속적으로 논의 할 것입니다. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WEA Announces Postponement of Upcoming General Assembly It is with reluctance that the International Council of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) announces the postponement of its General Assembly, planned for Seoul, South Korea, October 2014. The decision centered on recent internal divisions among the evangelical community and challenges they pose for holding an Assembly there at this time. Four years ago when the International Council chose to hold the WEA's next General Assembly there, it was with hope to encourage unity among Korean evangelical churches and within the global body of Christ. A broad grouping of evangelical Korean churches, led by the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), began working together in the planning of the Assembly. As well, the WEA initiated program development and operational start up with hopes that the Assembly would be a valuable moment for the developing of alliances worldwide and the witness of the Church in unity. However the Council has decided it is seemingly untenable for the Assembly to be hosted there this year, and with CCK it was mutually agreed that it would be postponed. The role of a General Assembly, held every six years, is to hear what the Spirit is saying to His Church, to convene the 129 national alliances and fellowships for corporate business and for training in national leadership. As well, the Assembly is a time and place where WEA's commissions and global partners gather to find ways of working together and to consult in developing plans for specific and creative initiatives. It is to be noted that this postponement will not deter these groups from continuing in their planning. Initiatives intended to be worked on at the Assembly will continue in other forums, such as in regional and national meetings and meetings of the WEA commissions, building up to the hosting of the Assembly, date and location to be announced in coming months. The WEA International Council is grateful for the important and energetic vision of the Church in South Korea, both within the country and in its mission initiatives worldwide. The Council also prays for a new coming together of evangelical leadership, nurturing the Church in its life and witness, centered in Jesus Christ. The Council will continue to consult in its planning for the next General Assembly. |
